Rules and Criteria for Credit
Criteria for Credit: All assignments must be completed and on time.
Full participation in critiques; voicing your opinion; helping make the class a community will help you earn credit for this course. Students must make a sincere effort at understanding class content. All students must participate in all critiques. Attendance Policy: Only two unexcused absences are allowed.
An excused absence is validated by a doctor’s note on proper stationary. An excused absence is not “I have to pick someone up at the airport” or “I overslept”.
Being late more than 3 times (5 minutes or more) equals one unexcused absence.
Additional absences will result in you being withdrawn from class-no credit given.
NEW RULES
All cell phones turned off and sitting on the table face down.
All laptops remain closed until I say to look something up.
One student at a time talks in my class with others respectfully listening.
If you cannot abide by these rules you should re-consider being in the college environment.

Our Next Assignment
Hi All,
The next assignment: re-create a famous photograph from photo history as exactly as you can AND make a second photograph where you alter it in some way is due next week.
There are a couple of rules:
You cannot Photoshop this image. You need to set it up, fix the lighting, etc.
Don't re-photograph the original. Sherrie Levine did this to effect years ago.
Also, bring the book or the internet photo of your source,
Thanks.

Model photography with life size backgrounds in perfect perspective
Model photography with life-size backgrounds in perfect perspective [25 pictures]
OCTOBER 16, 2013 | NO COMMENTS
Photographer and model-maker Michael Paul Smith has been building models and photographing them for over 25 years. All his scenes take place in the fictional town of Elgin Park, a quintessential mid-20th-century, middle American town of his own creation.
One of the most interesting aspects of many of his compositions is how he includes actual buildings and trees behind his models as if they were the same scale. With a careful eye for placement and lighting, Smith uses forced perspective to put his model cars, trains, and buildings into the same world as the trees and buildings in the background, despite their being many times smaller.
Here are several of his finished photos, each followed by a behind-the-scenes shot…
The Delivery of the New Bendix Washing Machine
North Main Street – Elgin Park [circa 1930's ]
Darren Winthrop’s ’65 Mustang Fastback
The Arrival of the Corvette Show Cars
One of the Many Pleasant Streets in Elgin Park
The Day After It Snowed
Moving Day – Stopping by the Creek – 1944
The 1957 Ford Hide-Away Hardtop Promotion
1950 – The Start of the Suburbs
1935 – News Happens in Elgin Park
Relatives Visiting from Up State NY -1934
Late Summer – 1938
